Travelling to Bali for the first time can be overwhelming; there are so many things to do and to see, so many places to eat, so many hotels to choose. It is frustrating, when you open your favorite travel agent websites; you see over 3000 hotels in Bali to select for your stay. From a small guesthouse cost USD$ 5 to super expensive private villa cost USD$ 14,000 per night. Another headache is when you’re going to decide in which area you should stay.
I have visited most of the hotels in Bali. From my personal of view with more than 7 years of experiences as a local guide, Kuta is the most favorite place to stay. Not a surprise, since Kuta is the magnet of the island for its beach, sun, surfing and shopping area. Night clubs along Legian Street is another attraction at night for party enthusiast.

Has strategic location, only 5 minutes walking to the beach, 5 minutes to the Legian Street, and 5 minutes to the biggest and newest shopping center in Bali, Beachwalk, and only 15 minutes driving from the airport. The Bene holds a “Fantastic” predicate and scores 8.3 as voted by the guest who stayed here previously. The hotel has modern and minimalist design with an extensive swimming pool in the center and a fancy restaurant next to it.
Pros: secluded and quiet place, big swimming pool, strategic location. Cons: no access for bus
Sun Island Hotel Kuta

Pro: strategic location, big road access. Cons: far from Legian
The Vira Bali Hotel

The Vira is not far from Sun Island Kuta and it is its main competitor (price competition). The Vira is about 10 years in operation. Compared to above hotel, The Bene and Sun Island, I would say, this hotel is old. The Vira holds Certificate of Excellence from Tripadvisor on 2013. With only 56 rooms available, the hotel will have a problem to accommodate a group more than 100 people. It predicates as “Fantastic” with 8.2 score.

Beach lover, this is your hotel, exactly located in front of the famous Kuta Beach. Only need to cross the busy Kuta Street to reach the beach. During the peak season, this area is extremely busy. If you prefer a quiet and relax hotel, this is not a right choice. Kuta Seaview scored 8.0 with “Very Good” predicate.
Pro: close to the beach. Cons: busy street in front of the hotel.
Ramayana Resort and Spa

Ramayana located just right in the corner of Kuta Square, the famous and the first shopping mall in Kuta. This hotel is not far from Waterboom and Discovery Kartika Plaza Mall. The main problem at Ramayana is parking lot. If you are traveling with your own car, make sure they provide you enough space for your car. The Ramayana scored 8.0 with “Very Good” predicate.
