On this date in 2010, the world was shocked by the death of Aexander McQueen, CBE, one of the most celebrated designers of our time. More than a decade “the hooligan of British fashion” has been gone, his work and vision still inspire the fashion world to create revolutionary, avant-garde, out of this world creations.
During his fashion career, McQueen worked quite closely with musicians, too. McQueen designed stage costumes for David Bowie’s tours from 1996 to 1997, in addition to the iconic Union Jack coat Bowie wore on the cover of his 1997 album Earthling. He also designed the geisha-style outfit worn by Björk on the cover of her 1997 album Homogenic, and later directed her “Alarm Call” video.
Slide 5 till the end, a few of my personal favourites. I can’t afford to buy them, of course. But I know where to find similar materials and which good sewer can do the job.
